Do you want to be the first to reach new residents of Greenwood with information about your products and services? Did you know that the first business a customer learns about and visits is often the one with whom he or she he builds long term loyalty? Do you want to ensure that new Greenwood citizens come into your business?
“Welcome Home to Greenwood” is a new program designed to make new residents feel appreciated as a part of the community and to get them into local businesses so they will start out building a pattern of spending their money right here in Greenwood. Once they have learned about the quality goods and services that are available at home and once they have had a chance to meet the really great folks they will do business with they will become customers for life.
Here is how the program works.
New residents will receive a ”Welcome Home” card from the Water Department to bring to the Chamber office. They will be given a “Welcome Home to Greenwood” booklet as a gift for coming to Greenwood. The booklet will be made up of coupons from Greenwood businesses that make special one-time offers to new residents. The one time use coupons will be for something of value that the business provides.
The offers from the businesses will have to be something more than what is available to normal customers through the business’ advertising or loyalty programs that everyone sees. “$10 off of a $100 purchase” isn’t special; that is offered commonly by many stores. $25 off any purchase is an offer of real value and is a reason to come into a business they might not come into otherwise. A free meal without restrictions, a free haircut, a free manicure, a half price oil change, even a gift that is not related to your business like a gift card with a service call or a “free gift” just for dropping by would be good incentives.
Each participant will get a coupon in the booklet that will be given to the new residents. The business is free to provide a logo or artwork along with its offer. The program will be for one year. (Coupons in the 2025 edition will be valid for 18 months, through June 30, 2026.) We will re-evaluate and find out if the businesses feel that they are making new customers and get their suggestions to improve the program. The annual cost per coupon for businesses will be $75. We will only print as many booklets as are needed and we will keep them locked up for restricted distribution. Participation is limited to Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Members, Businesses physically located in the 72936 Zip Code or Businesses whose owner lives in the 72936 Zip Code.
